Popular Services We Provide

  1. Woodland Management – A “Woodland” is a habitat where large trees are the dominant and most populous life form in the area. These areas often have shaded ground which causes varying temperatures. Standard pavement design can direct water (rain and surface) to nearby drainage systems, which can lead to damages from flash flooding.
Why do we need woodland management?

Woodland Management, this process can be used to maximise yields of economically beneficial products, such as Game, and Timber. Woodland Management can also be used for conservation, and upkeep of biodiversity.

What is Biodiversity and how can we control it?

Biodiversity is the number of unique species in a habitat, for example, a forest containing over 1000 different species can be identified as Biodiverse. Biodiversity is crucial for woodland habitats to help them thrive and stay sufficient for longer periods of time, lack of biodiversity can cause a habitat to slowly degrade and become uninhabitable, and therefore not useful for natural resource extraction.

To control biodiversity of a habitat, we can manage light levels using the height and location of the tree canopy. This allows us to control the level of plant growth, this combined with continued maintenance and monitoring allows us to make decisions in controlling the ecosystem and number of unique species.

Services we can provide which work towards Woodland Management include:

Thinning out dense/overgrown woodlands, underplanting of woodlands with poor regeneration, the creation of new plantations, full maintenance plans depending on your requirements, evaluations and annual management plans.

  • Green Walls/Roofs – For our domestic and commercial customers, we install, and manage Green Walls, and Green Roofs – Green Walls/Roofs are structures normally made of framing, with plants grown across. These can not only transform the appearance of a home but can create opportunities for the start of an ecosystem in your area. Green Walls can be built on a home/building, with gaps for the windows, or they can be a solid wall installed in a park or city. Green Walls not attached to buildings, can have layers of synthetic fabric with pockets, which allow the plants to grow more efficiently.

What are the main uses of Green Walls?

These structures not only help create habitats in man-made areas, therefore creating biodiversity, but they assist with the fight against global warming. This is especially noticeable in urban areas, as plants located near car-busy areas can help reduce the quantity of carbon reaching the atmosphere.

Before we install the Green Wall, we review the area you wish to have it installed and outline any specific requirements you have about the position or variant of wall. If you would like to see the possible options for installation, contact us today.

  • Wildlife Ponds – We are proud to carry out the professional construction of Wildlife ponds in the North East. These ponds are more important than they may seem, as they provide crucial habitats for several animal species which are approaching extinction in the UK. These species include the varying species of frogs, toads and newts found throughout the UK. Natural ponds have been present on the planet for millions of years, and due to this some animals have become completely reliant on the resources and the environment that these ponds provide. With the increase of man-made structures, and reduction of natural space, these natural ponds are becoming more sparse overtime, hence the decline in the animal population. Our ponds can be installed in most areas which have suitable conditions; however, we have found the most popular place for the installation is in the gardens of homes. Like Green Walls, these ponds allow you to help the environment autonomously, and provide habitats to the ecosystem, while also adding value to your property.
